Zubie Asset Trak Geolocates Equipment and Assets, Viewable Alongside Fleet Vehicles on Zubie’s Web Portal

October 6, 2020, Bloomington, MNZubie, a leading connected-car platform and telematics software provider, today announced the launch of Zubie Asset Trak, a GPS device designed to track equipment and assets such as trailers, containers, industrial lawn mowers, and UTVs. Asset Trak is a powerful complement to Zubie Fleet Connect and the full range of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions enabling customers to manage all of their vehicle and equipment tracking in a single place. Operation Managers, especially those in the construction, utilities, agricultural, landscaping, and heavy transportation, often have to keep track of assets moving around from job-site to job-site, and Zubie Asset Trak gives them the ability to do so, and receive alerts when the asset moves outside of any custom geofenced boundary the user sets up. Additionally, with using Zubie Location Link, the asset’s location can be shared with a third party such as the police, helping assist in recovery of the asset.

“We knew any tracking solution we implemented needed to not just track an asset, but aid in recovery, and with Zubie Asset Trak, we have that solution,” said Zubie CEO Gary Tucker.”Everything we do revolves around the principle of making a fleet manager’s job simpler, giving them the ability to track their assets alongside their vehicles in one simple-to-use platform was critical to our implementation.”
Smaller than a deck of playing cards, Zubie Asset Trak’s low-profile form makes it simple to hide, and the magnetic mounting plate makes installation simple to perform by a non-technical employee. The device is waterproof and features up to a year of battery life under normal usage conditions, wirelessly rechargeable in less than four hours.

Zubie scores a ride in the Prius and celebrates Earth Week

Zubie recently played its part for clean and smart driving in the San Francisco Bay area, participating in Toyota’s Prius Pick Me Up Earth Week celebration. For two days, April 20, 21, Toyota offered commuters Casual Carpool Pickups — free rides to-and-from the East Bay and San Francisco in the all-new 2016 Prius. The event was a nod to Toyota’s leadership in the hybrid space – Toyota (and Lexus) have twice the number of hybrids on the road over any other OEM.

. Plus, the Bay Area is known for its highly dense Prius population, with more than 217,000 of the popular hybrid vehicles sold in the Bay Area since 2001.

Zubie’s role? We were honored to be asked to install our Zubie with WiFi device in each of the 17 Prius cars ferrying the commuters around. As a result, lucky riders enjoyed a convenient, hassle-free ride to or from work and — courtesy of Zubie — access to super-speedy WiFi powered by Verizon. An easy commute coupled with quick WiFi access to shop, surf the web or do a little work — what a great way to spend your ride time.

Plus, as any carpool aficionado knows, even a simple carpool can be a bear to coordinate, so Toyota took advantage of Zubie’s always-on, cellular-powered GPS capabilities to keep track of all the vehicles and coordinate rides efficiently.

Screen Shot 2016-05-09 at 10.37.54 AM

All told, the Bay Area Prius carpool tally was 43 pick-ups/drop-offs per day which amounted to 430 total riders. Not too shabby considering Bay Area traffic.

Capping the Earth Week festivities, area Toyota owners broke a Guinness World Record on Earth Day with the biggest parade of hybrid vehicles ever organized. On Northern California’s Alameda Air Field, 332 Toyota Prius owners made a parade lap to celebrate Earth Day, and set the new record.

Congratulations to Toyota for the record and ongoing Prius/hybrid victories. Zubie salutes you for promoting, clean, green driving!

Maintenance Made Easier

866 394 admin

For the longest time, we have all been driving expensive and complex pieces of machinery with relatively little help in understanding how to get the most of our driving experience or investment. Our perennial goal at Zubie has been to change that. We started with a focus on safety with features such as location tracking, diagnostics and driving alerts. And then we broadened our feature-set to encompass convenience, by enabling connections to hundreds of other apps, more insights such as speed limits, and opportunities to save money.

But it was always apparent that a major area of pain for most car owners was managing ongoing maintenance –  scheduling oil changes, tracking brake service and tire rotations. Do you remember your last oil service? Or when your tires need to be rotated? Are you waiting to get that reminder card in the mail from your dealer?  In an era of apps and on-demand everything, we think you deserve better.

Zubie Maintenance reminders track your car’s essential service needs and remind you when they are due. Pretty simple, right? Since Zubie is already aware of your mileage, activity and driving habits, the reminders are smarter and perfectly timed to your exact driving needs.  Interactive reminders allow you to flag completed tasks without turning it into a chore.   A service diary tracks all your maintenance in case its needed for reference, such as when you sell your car.  And coming soon, you will be able to find and schedule a maintenance appointment with your dealership with just a few clicks.

Zubie Maintenance is available now on Zubie iOS and Web View, and coming in January for Android!  In the coming weeks, look for more information and reminders related to maintenance, and very shortly some exciting new features that allow you to connect directly with your service center.

IFTTT – Connect Zubie to your World

Since we launched our service, we have been consistently amazed at the ingenuity of our customers in how they put Zubie to use. From staying connected with aging drivers, encouraging your teenager to drive safely, or maintaining a history of your business vehicle activity, there are more meaningful ways to benefit from connected car capabilities than we ever could have imagined.

Starting today, Zubie is integrated with IFTTT!

If This Then That is a web service that allows you to connect and unify all of your connected devices, social channels and numerous others applications. This allows you to use Zubie data and events in ways that that are limited only by your creativity. For example, you can turn up your Nest thermostat as you leave work to come home to a warm house. You can maintain a Google spreadsheet of all your trip data. If you operate a food truck, you can broadcast your location on Facebook, twitter or your website automatically when you park. You can even receive driving alerts via a voice phone call.

Now you can really connect Zubie to the rest of the world, and your connected life.

How do I activate IFTTT

  • IFTTT is a free service that you can sign up for, at http://www.ifttt.com.
  • Once you have registered, you can activate different channels for various online services that you may already be using, such as Gmail or Nest. There are channels for just about every service you may want to use, including ones for voice calls, text messages and weather. When you activate the Zubie channel, you will need to authenticate using your normal Zubie account.
  • Then you use a recipe to track something and perform an action when that occurs. You can choose from existing recipes or create your own. Each recipe consists of an “IF” part and a “THEN” part.  You can mix and match however you need to create really useful integrations.

What Events Can I Track

We are starting you off with a treasure-trove of useful events and information, and we will be adding more events as well as the ability to make changes to Zubie based on outside events (called Actions in IFTTT).

  • Arrivals and departures
  • Trip Start
  • Trip Completed
  • Check Engine light
  • Low Battery
  • Out of Range Alert
  • Long Distance Trip
  • Driving alerts – speeding, acceleration, braking
  • Fuel Level and Status (coming soon)

We have created some great recipes that you can start using right away. Feel free to customize or create new recipes all your own- and be sure to tell us about them on our  Community forum.

Common ways to increase gas mileage using your driving data

150 150 admin

The average American spends more than an hour ‘on the road’ every day, with millions upon millions of miles being driven every year by the nation’s passenger automobiles. Whether you use your car for commuting, picking the kids up from school, or for running errands around town, your car is costing you time and money.  With just a few small modifications to your driving habits and the routes that you choose to drive, you could save hundreds of dollars a year – and you could shave several minutes off of your commute each day.

driving car

As gas prices continue to fall, increasing the MPG of your car might not be on the forefront of your mind – but this is as good a time as ever to practice efficient driving habits that can prolong the life of your car while helping your wallet and the environment. With Zubie, you put yourself in the “driver’s seat” of your automobile-use patterns – giving yourself all of the data that you need to modify your behavior for the better.

There are a number of ways that you can increase your overall mileage through simple changes to your driving habits.

  • Try to minimize your use of rapid acceleration.  Slamming your foot on the gas to be the first out of stoplights might be enjoyable, but it also wastes tons of gas and is unsafe.
  • Use your cruise control! When you are driving on the interstate, cruise control is a great way to ensure that your car isn’t expending gas unnecessarily – and it also avoids traffic tickets by keeping you under the speed limit. The only exception to this rule is when you are driving in areas with major elevation changes – since cruise control does not deal with hills very well.
  • Zubie monitors traffic patterns during your daily commute to determine the best time to leave your home or workplace for your drive. This allows you to make small adjustments in your schedule to save time and gas – and it can help you optimize your routine so you are only on the road when traffic is at its lightest. For example, shifting your work day from the typical “9 to 5” just one hour earlier can reduce traffic as much as 75% in some parts of the country – allowing you to spend more time at home instead of stuck in gridlock.

Do you have an easy trick you use to increase your gas mileage? Let us know in the comments section. Drive safe!

5 Reasons To Connect Your Car This Holiday Season

1024 480 admin

Reason 1 – Because getting stuck in the cold is the worst
Over 52% of car breakdowns are due to a dead or faulty battery- and winter is the most common time of year for a battery issue.  Your vehicle’s battery loses 33% of its power when the temps dips below freezing, and over 50% of its power when it falls below zero. Having a connected car can let you monitor battery voltage so you can avoid being stuck in cold weather.

Reason 2 – Better driving habits means better fuel economy
Gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in 5 years, and you may be one of the millions taking a road trip this holiday season. Connected devices can help you understand your fuel consumption and driving habits to help you increase fuel economy and spend less on gas.

Reason 3 – Coordinate travel to all of your holiday destinations
Connecting your car can help you see where your friends and family are on the road, making carpooling a breeze and giving you peace of mind that they’re on their way safely to their holiday destination.

Reason 4 – Big savings on car stuff
Some connected car solution are beginning to offer discounts and rewards based on your driving activity and usage – you can save on everything from car parts and repair, to insurance and car warranty. Cashing in on one or two of these could end up paying for the cost of the connected car solution alone.

Reason 5 – Because you car deserves some holiday love
Your car takes you thousands of miles a year through rain, sleet, sun and hail – why not reward it with something that keeps it doing the same for years to come? Connected car solutions like Zubie are the perfect gift for any driver who wants the information they need to keep the wear and tear of their favorite vehicle in check this season!

Zubie Team Spotlight: How I Zubie by Adrienne

150 150 admin

Many years ago Steve Jobs was quoted as saying “people don’t know what they want until you show it to them,” and this couldn’t be truer with my Zubie device.  As the Operations Analyst for Zubie I’ve found this device to be a huge benefit in my life.  At first I didn’t know what to expect, but I remained opened minded, and boy was I surprised.

Protecting my family:

As a first-time mom, I’m super concerned with every detail of my daughter’s life including her comings and goings.  And since my fiancé and I share a car with her car seat in it, I’m able to see where my fiancé and daughter are at any given time with my Zubie App.  In addition to being able to see their location, I’m able to set up location notifications so if my fiancé takes her some place outside of our home I’ll get a notification which lets me know “Now may not be a good time to call him.”  I’m that over protected mom that doesn’t want him texting, calling, or doing anything but focusing on his driving with our bundle of joy in the backseat.

Early detection:

In addition to all these great features, it’s like we now have our own personal mechanic right at our finger tips.  It’s great to be able to log into the App and see the health of our car.  This is one less thing I have to worry or remind myself about.  Now our Zubie app does it for me.

Making my life easier:

I never thought in a million years that I would be using a device such as Zubie to connect me to my everyday life.  I can easily see the benefits of this product for companies to use, but personally I couldn’t conceive of it until now.  Now I don’t think I could live without my Zubie.  As the company continues to grow and add more features I’m looking forward to seeing how much more I can connect to make my life to make things just a little bit easier for me.  And for me the cost is PRICELESS for all the security and comfort I’m getting by having Zubie in our lives.
